Hello beautiful ones! I trust everyone is well and is enjoying the long weekend. It is almost Easter in South Africa, that means there are a lot of public holidays around this time and well I am happy. Public holidays are the only time I can just chill, catch up on other things in my life and do nothing, lol. My weekend was pretty chilled. I was at work on Saturday and then checked out an event by Vault Cosmetics . I got to meet some wonderful ladies, tried different lip stains and went home with my favourite lip stains. Jackie Mgido the founder of Vault was obviously there. It was great meeting her, what an inspiration she is. Vault lips tains impressed me and I love them.
Well today is Monday and I know many of you are looking forward to Monday Male Feature. I will not be doing Monday Male Feature today because I was so excited to share some pictures of a fun shoot I did a little while ago. We”ll pick up on Monday Male Feature next week right? I worked with a photographer called Lenzo and boy is he good at what he does! I was so impressed with the photos and will definitely work with him again in the future. I remember when he asked me what I had in mind for the photo shoot, after bouncing a few ideas around we kind of just went with the flow lol.The day I travelled to Maboneng to meet up with Lenzo , I had no idea what to expect. Let me say, I was completely blown away. It was my first time in Maboneng and I did not want to leave. The vibe was very chilled with a lot of cool spots to chill, eat, shop and just have a good time. We went onto a roof top and immediately got to work. I felt quite comfortable because Lenzo was very chilled and told me what to do most of the time. When I picked out my outfit for the shoot I had a vision of something vintage and classy meets modern.I wore a long sleeved white shirt with a midi skirt. The skirt is not just any midi skirt, this skirt is by Mozambican designer Taibo Bacar.
I was introduced to Taibo Bacar and his work after meeting my beautiful friends from Africa Fashion International. I started following his work and was immediately sold! Sometime last year I was an assistant on a photo shoot for the Africa Fashion International Prive store and I had to assist the models get in their clothes. There were a few Taibo Bacar pieces there and as I helped the models get ready I told myself ” one day I will own one of these pieces”. At the end of last year I had the opportunity to assist at the Afi Prive store trunk show and I bought myself this Taibo Bacar midi skirt. That was one of the happiest days of my life. Initially I had wanted to buy the Taibo Bacar pencil dress but unfortunately I couldn’t get one in my size *sobs*. I love this skirt not only because I think the designer’s work is beautiful, but also because of his attention to detail. I love the pearl and lace finish on the skirt and the prints of the material he uses. As a print lover he cannot go wrong in anyway.I chose to wear the white shirt because it’s classic and you can never go wrong with a white shirt can you? The nude shoes went well with the look in keeping the outfit simple in its elegance. The look was completed with pearl accessories.
The vintage car on the rooftop complimented my outfit and it was absolutely perfect. Lenzo captured some other shots that were not on the rooftop. I wore my natural hair out for the photo shoot not only because of my love for it but because I thought it would add a little something extra to the shoot. The colour was perfect and went well with the outfit. As mentioned earlier, I wanted the outfit to be vintage and I made sure the jewellery and accessories were all moulded well. My cat eye sunglasses with the flower detail definitely made the outfit a lot more interesting.
The green background amplified the colour of the outfit as well as my skin tone and it was absolutely magic! Keep scrolling for more pictures.
