Hello, beautiful ones of the Most High! I trust you are all well and had a lovely weekend. I had a pretty action packed weekend in which I had a lot of fun all through. Saturdays as usual I was at work for half the day and then got to catch up with some of my friends a little later in the afternoon. On Sunday I was in church as usual and it was amazing. It’s always a great time being in my Father’s house and I am always filled with joy being there.
I know a lot of people in my life and there are only a few people I can call ”real friends”. I’d like to introduce you to one of my closest friends..no, she is actually my young sister. Her name is Kalenga and many of you know her as kurvekut . This young lady has been such a pillar of strength to me and I am ever so grateful.
Quick story about how we met. Kalenga used to be my young sister Helena’s best friend in high school. I have known her quite a while but back then we weren’t friends. She was only Helena’s friend. I remember how they used to go out and do fun things and I would just sit at home with my thoughts lol. Then Helena left for Australia and Kalenga and I had a conversation where she said to me ”Just because Helena has left doesn’t mean we can’t be friends” so since then we have been close to inseparable.
She is younger than me but boy is she full of wisdom and experience. At her young age she has experienced a whole lot and uses that to teach me many things . We talk about everything and anything and I must say she taught me about ”adulting”. Not saying I am enjoying ”adulting” but these are things that have to be done, lol.
For those of you who do not know Kalenga is a beauty and lifestyle blogger and focuses on skin blogging so just imagine what I go through on a daily basis. She monitors my skin and I get ”dada (as she affectionately calls me) why are you breaking out? Are you stressed? Is it that time of the month?” We spend hour talking about our blogs and the plans we have for the blogs and provide each other with support. She is such a brilliant mind and always has so many ideas for her blog and hobbies she wants us to try together and so on. Usually when she is close to my work she calls me and says she wants to stop by and say hello and we end up walking through the mall and shopping LOL, I am not complaining at all. I love it and it is a lot of fun. On other days we meet up at the mall and end up at the gym or at a new restaurant or taking a walk around a new neighborhood, it’s always an adventure.
I think she believes in me and my abilities more than I do myself and having her around means I am reminded everyday of who I am, what I carry and what I can do. I believe friendships are a two way thing and all parties involved are responsible to make that friendship work. I make sure I am available for her whenever she needs me, no matter the time of day. We have had days where she texts me in the middle of the night to talk or to vent and I love and appreciate those moments. Other times she can’t sleep for some reason, she will text me and I pray for her before I go back to sleep. I have received so much from our friendship and I would like to believe she feels the same.
We have been talking about doing a photo shoot together for a long time and we finally decided on a date, photographer and drove around to find a location and made it happen! Our photographer for the shoot was Aj Viduya who is a friend I have known since my university days and she recently took up photography. I must say she is doing really well at it and just keeps getting. For more of her work check out her Facebook page AJV Photography ZA .
We didn’t really have a theme for the photoshoot, it was just a way for us to celebrate our friendship in a different, fun way. We both got to choose our outfits and because it’s still winter we wore coats..oh did I mention they are More Graca Finds coats, lol. The outfits we chose for ourselves went together so well don’t you agree? I cannot stop expressing how i feel about this friendship and I encourage all of you to do the same, work on your friendships, appreciate and be grateful for them. One last thing…enjoy life!
Till next time beautiful ones 🙂
