Hello beautiful ones of the Most High! Hoping all of you are doing well after this rather short weekend. Am I the only one who finds weekends really short? Yes? Ok moving right along. My weekend was pretty amazing, made me feel young again because I had an extremely packed day and I made it out exhausted but alive, lol. On Saturday I attended a dear friend’s bridal shower right after work, it was a surprise and she had absolutely no idea it was happening. It’s always so lovely to spend time among my sisters in the Lord, so much love and joy.

In the evening I attended another “all things Kizomba party” and as usual it was amazing – many thanks to BailaAfrika, I danced the whole night literally, with all kinds of gentlemen – beginners and advanced. WOW! I just got an awesome idea to vlog one of the dance events, let me get around to planning it! Ok today isn’t about me so let’s meet our Male Feature for the week.

Hi Male Feature …..tell us something about yourself

My name is Dearest Odubu aka TheRapperWhoThinks – A Nigerian man passionate about faith, National transformation, art – in all its forms, thinking in-depth and yes – occasionally wrestling alligators bare chested on weekends. I believe my style portrays all these if observed keenly because I’ve been able to use it to express my identity. It’s an art form for me – except the alligator wrestling of course. That’s just a hobby i found that helps humble me from time to time.
(I hope no one takes the alligator wrestling joke serious.)

Ah, nice! How would you describe your style?

My style is what you get when you merge contemporary African fashion with rich British Savile Row influences and top it off with street style etiquette. I guess you could call me a Nigerian gentleman with a taste for finely tailored garments and the occasional ripped jeans. Hahaha!

What or who inspires or influences your style?

Hmm. I think I’ve mentioned it in the above segment. Perhaps I spoke too soon. But, yes! I’m inspired by contemporary Nigerian men’s fashion, British style and street/urban fashion. Of course I put in my own unique twist when I adorn myself with these garments – I think that’s what’s going to stand the test of time. My unique style – not trends that come and go.

The one thing every man should have….

Every man should have compassion and teachability and should wear them close to his heart. The kind of man that has compassion and is teachable, will find that he owns a heart open to learn. Of utmost importance is learning about yourself. When that is done, he would learn how to express himself (who he has learnt about) through the style and fashion that reflects that image. A man must have those two and of course a well tailored suit. Preferably, a bespoke one. Trust me! You’re going to need it.

What are some of your closet favourites?

I love suits a little too much. Lol. I think everyone who knows me, knows this by now. I’ve been privileged to collect quite a few since my inclination towards suits began. I also love to collect leather pieces. Shoes and watches are my favorite. I think leather pieces carry character – especially as they age. A really good leather strap watch which has aged, tell a great story which could be passed down to a younger generation whom with it, will collect new stories.

Dearest, thanks for taking time out to answer my questions and for agreeing to be part of this. I really appreciate it. Keep scrolling for more pictures.
